2006 Annual List of Obligated Projects
Federal law requires the Kalamazoo Area Transportation Study (KATS) to publish an annual listing of projects for which Federal funds have been obligated in the preceding year.  This serves as a record of project delivery while increasing the transparency of government spending on transportation projects and strategies in the Kalamazoo metropolitan area. The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) outlines the federally funded projects for Kalamazoo County over a three-year period.  All road and transit projects within Kalamazoo County that are programmed with federal funds are to be contained within the document. KATS also provides a list of major non-federally funded projects as information to the public.

The FY 2006 - 2008 Transportation Improvement Program was approved by the KATS Policy Committee at their July 27, 2005 meeting. Extensive public involvement was gathered during the development of the document, including a public hearing on July 27, 2005. Brochures describing the road projects included in the TIP were mailed to directly affected property owners to solicit input on the proposed project and construction date.

Road projects being planned by the cities of Kalamazoo and Portage, along with the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Kalamazoo County Road Commission, are outlined within the FY 2006 - 2008 Transportation Improvement Program.  Funding for Kalamazoo Metro Transit and Kalamazoo County Care-A-Van are also contained within the document.

Please note that the FY 2006 - 2008 TIP is a working document for the local road and transit agencies. Funding levels and the project construction year can change due to budget and other issues.  The projects listed with the TIP are presented with estimated dollars and construction year.
